Pump and collection chamber

The pump and collection shaft is a robust GRP component for pond filter systems, gravity systems and pumped filter solutions. It serves as the technical interface between the pond, inlet pipes, pump technology and filter system.

Depending on the installation situation, the shaft can be used as a pump chamber, a collection point for floor drains and skimmers, or as a technical shaft for housing further components. The versions are supplied with a matching cover.

Unsure about the right box size?

Pond volume, number of inlets, pipe diameter, pump capacity, filter position, and desired maintenance access all influence the appropriate filter pit size. Aqualogistik will gladly assist you with the technical coordination of your pond filter system.

Pump and collection sump for pond filter systems and gravity systems

The pump and collection chamber is a central component for the technically clean setup of pond filter systems. It creates a defined technical area outside the pond and enables structured routing of inlet pipes, pumps, pre-filters and other connecting components.

A well-accessible pump chamber is particularly important for Koi ponds, larger garden ponds, and high-performance filter systems. Bottom drains and skimmers can be led into the shaft, checked there, and flushed or mechanically cleaned if necessary.

In a gravity/pump version, the water initially enters the pump chamber without pressure via the floor drain and/or skimmer. From there, it is actively conveyed to the multi-chamber filter or another filtration system. This design combines controlled gravity feed with flexible filter placement.

In purely gravity-fed systems, the pump and collection pit can be used as an accessible technical and collection area to clearly arrange pipes, shut-off valves, and maintenance points. This makes the inlets more accessible than pipes directly connected to the filter.

Scope of delivery

  • Pump and collection shaft in the selected version
  • Matching manhole cover

Pumps, pipework, gate valves, tank connectors, floor drains, skimmers, UV-C technology, and other connection accessories are not automatically included and should be planned separately to suit the system.

Technical Specifications

The pump and collection sumps are available in several GRP versions. All variants come with a matching lid and are intended for use in the technical area of pond filter systems.

Article No. Model Dimensions Material Scope of delivery
10310024 TRIPOND Pump Chamber A 68cm x 68cm x 61.5cm GFK incl. lid
10310029 TRIPOND Pump Sump B L 120 × W 80 × H 80 cm GFK incl. lid
10310035 TRIPOND Pump sump C L 80 × W 80 × H 120 cm GFK incl. lid

Depending on the size and design, the shafts differ structurally. Smaller designs are manufactured with a smooth construction, while larger designs feature a reinforced construction to withstand higher mechanical loads.

Area of use and application

  • Pump chamber for pond filter systems
  • Collection chamber for inlets from floor drain and skimmer
  • Technical shaft for housing pumps, pre-filters and connection components
  • Gravity/pump systems with upstream pump well
  • Koi ponds, larger garden ponds and high-performance pond systems
  • Technical areas where maintenance and pipe access should remain easily accessible

The shaft is particularly suitable for installations where water management, pump technology, and filter connections are to be designed clearly and in a maintenance-friendly way.

Advantages and special features

  • Robust GRP construction for durable use in technical areas
  • Delivery including matching lid
  • Suitable as a pump chamber, collection shaft or utility shaft
  • Facilitates access to feed lines, pumps, and connectors
  • Supports a clear separation of water management and pond technology
  • Helpful for gravity/pump systems and low-maintenance filter units
  • Several sizes available for different installation concepts

A pump chamber can significantly simplify later maintenance because inlets from the floor drain and skimmer can be designed as open, accessible system points.

Compatibility and accessories

The pump and collector chamber can be combined with components from pond construction, filter technology, pump technology and PVC piping. It is important that the pipe diameter, pump performance, filter position and inflow concept are suited to the respective pond system.

The arrangement of the floor drain, skimmer, shut-off valves and pump chamber should be determined before installation, so that maintenance and later cleaning of the pipes remain possible.

Assembly and installation instructions

Installation position planning

The pump and collection pit should be positioned such that inlets, pumps, shut-off valves and maintenance points remain easily accessible. Before installation, the water level, filter position and pipe routing should be determined.

Gravity/pump version

In the gravity/pump version, the water first enters the upstream pump shaft without pressure via floor drains and/or skimmers. From there, it is actively conveyed into the multi-chamber filter or another filtration system.

Gravity version

In the gravity version, the water flows pressurelessly from floor drains and/or skimmers into the filter system. An accessible shaft area can help to guide inlets and shut-off valves clearly and keep them easily accessible for maintenance.

Regulate inlets separately

The floor drain and skimmer should be planned to be sealable and controllable separately. This allows for better coordination of water flow between the floor suction and surface suction.

Maintenance and cleaning to be considered

When using a pumping sump in gravity systems, the inlet pipes remain more accessible as an open system. This makes later flushing or mechanical cleaning easier compared to pipes connected directly to the filter.

In a nutshell

A pump and collection shaft is a technical shaft for pond systems where water from skimmers, floor drains, or pipelines is collected and fed to the pump or filter technology. It is particularly suitable for koi ponds, garden ponds, gravity systems, and professional water systems. Crucial for the appropriate selection are shaft size, number of inlets, pipe dimensions, planned flow rate, and good accessibility for maintenance and inspection.

Legal notices

Safety notice

Installation, connection and operation should be carried out in accordance with the planned pond system and the applicable safety regulations.

Before maintenance, cleaning or assembly work, connected electrical components such as pumps, UV-C devices, or controls must be disconnected from the mains.

The shaft must be installed in such a way that it is positioned securely and that no impermissible mechanical stresses are exerted on walls, covers, pipe connections or penetrations.

Manhole covers and the technical area should be secured to prevent accidental access or the risk of falling.

Manufacturer Information

The pump and collection pit is marketed under the Aqualogistik / TRIPOND brand and is designed for use in pond filter systems, gravity systems, and technical water systems.

The shafts are made of GRP and, depending on the version, are used as pump chambers, collection shafts or technical shafts to accommodate pumps, inlets and connection components.

For reliable operation, the shaft should be dimensioned appropriately for the system and combined with suitable pipe, pump, and filter components.
