Filter media for pond filters perform various tasks within a filter system. They support the mechanical retention of dirt particles, provide a surface area for colonising filter bacteria or are used specifically to remove certain substances from the pond water.

In this category you will find filter media for garden ponds, koi ponds, multi-chamber filters, cartridge filters and modular filter systems. These include, among other things, filter honeycomb, vortex filter honeycomb, filter brushes, Japanese matting, filter mats, filter foam mats, filter cartridges, helix / moving bed, bio-balls, bio-cubes, aquarock, lava, zeolite, carbon / activated carbon and filter fleece.

The selection of the appropriate filter medium depends on the design of the filter system, the flow rate, the fish stock and the desired cleaning performance. Mechanical media such as brushes, mats or structured inserts retain coarse and suspended matter. Biological media provide a surface for microorganisms that support the breakdown of ammonium and nitrite.

Many filter media can be used specifically in existing filter chambers or to expand individual filter stages. Especially in koi ponds, a clear separation between mechanical pre-filtration and the biological filter stage is sensible so that maintenance, flow rate and water quality remain stable.

For a functioning filtration system, filter media, filter size, pump capacity, aeration and pond bio-load should be considered together. Aqualogistik supports specialist retailers, pond builders and landscaping contractors in the appropriate selection and coordination of filter media.

["GET
